Lab4 has been postponed until next Tuesday so you guys aren't battling 30 billion deadlines this week. Lab will be open from 9 AM to 11 AM and 2 to 5 PM if you want to show up and work on anything or just ask us questions about Project 2 or homework or whatever.

I've written up a short guide that lays out the steps for solving a 1st order ODE. This might be helpful for the reading assignment/homeworks. Get it here

I'd like some feedback from you guys now that we're getting to the halfway point and you've had plenty of time to absorb the way the class is being taught and have had a midterm to digest.

This is completely anonymous. I'd like it if everyone filled this out so I can adjust the way the course is being conducted. Of course, it's totally optional since I don't even know who is filling the thing out. You could even fill out the survey hundreds of times and I would have no idea.

Thanks everyone, and I hope the semester is going well for everyone. And for those of you who put it off, get started on HW #4. This is the best possible advice I can give.

Project 2
If anyone wants me to help match them in to a Project 2 group, email me and let me know which section you are in and any preferences you might have for a group (e.g. willing to work outside of lab, want to do build something crazy, want to work with a Mandarin speaker, no tall people, whatever)

Also, Onur has finished the official project 2 spec and will have it posted soon, but in the meantime, I have attached it to this email. If you're planning on doing something other than the official project 2, you don't even really need the spec, because for you, the spec is "build something cool", subject to our approval. You can try looking at previous EE40 projects on the web for inspiration. You are also welcome to find something online which you intend to build. The only restriction is that there must be a substantial hardware component, and at least some small amount of design.

Your project should be at least as complex as the attached project 2 spec. If you want to do this, you must submit to me by Thursday at 5 PM a writeup explaining your project, parts list, and a schematic. We will order the parts as soon as your spec is approved so you can get started.

Talk to Cooper, Onur, or I if you want some input before submitting a spec.

2010-07-06 There will be a review session in 521 Cory at 5 PM on Wednesday.

I've gotten a large number of emails from people who were unable to finish the homework over the weekend due to July 4th travel and a lack of office hours to discuss the homework. I tried to make it an incremental homework to tackle the office hours problem, but it seems it wasn't quite enough. Thus, you may optionally submit your HW3 in class AT THE BEGINNING OF LECTURE at no penalty. If you take advantage of this late submission, give me your homework, in person at the beginning of lecture. If you show up late, your homework will be late. Sorry. If you turn in your homework late, I can't promise that we'll have a chance to grade and return the homework to you before the exam. Solutions will be posted, so I recommend that you make a copy of your hw so you can compare yourself so you can check your homework yourself. If you turn in your HW3 by 2 PM today, it will be graded and returned tomorrow. Anything in the box after 2 PM today will be considered late.

HW3 had a couple of typos. The first was that in HW 4.a, there should not have been a minus sign in front of the expression you were trying to find. Then in HW9, the input resistance should have been 10^6, not just 10. If it was 10, then V_out would not have been 40V (since the amplifier would only see 1/3rd of the input voltage, so V_out would have been 13.3V)

2010-07-05 Just a few reminders: No lab on Wednesday. No reading assignment for Wednesday. Homework #3 due Tuesday at 2 PM. Midterm on Friday at 12:10 AM, ending at 1:40 sharp. Be on time. You're allowed one 8.5" x 11" piece of paper, handwritten, both sides. No calculators. If you're feeling at all behind, get practicing quick, and good luck!
2010-06-30 iClicker Registration: To register your iClicker, just go to this link. Then, enter your first name, last name, student ID, and remote ID.

The remote ID is a sticker on the device. If you don't have one, let me know. Your student ID is your first initial, then last name.

For example, if your first name is Venkatanarasimha, and your last name is Rajuvaripet-Ramakrishnan, your student id would be VRAJUVARIPET-RAMAKRISHNAN

I used your name as it appears in bspace to generate the user IDs, so make sure to match that. You aren't required to register your iClicker, but participating in discussion will earn you coveted EPA points (see lecture 1 notes if you've forgotten what that means).

Pre-lab grading: Since there is no partial credit on pre-labs, we will allow you to have 1 or 2 mistakes (depending on the length of the prelab) without penalty. So for example on lab 1, we allowed 2 mistakes, so if you got 11 right, you get full credit for the pre-lab. This should make them less anxiety inducing. We will not announce the number of allowed mistakes in advance, sorry.

2010-06-22 To be clear, the reading listed on a given day is the reading you're expected to do for that day. So for example, For Wednesday, you should read p53-96 and p119-124, and give p125-139 a look. I know it's a lot, but you don't have any real homework or labs yet.
2010-06-21 Reading assignment for Wednesday now posted. Don't worry so deeply about following every detail of pages 86-89 and pages 91-94. If you can do the reading assignment on bspace, you should be fine. Also note that the mini-bio HW0 is up as well.
