We are going to fund up to 8 women graduate students to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (October 4-7, 2006) from EECS.

If you are interested in attending and have not mentioned it before please do so. Funding is on a first-come first serve basis. Priority will be given to those presenting and those who applied for a scholarship. The student deadline is now apparently August 9: http://www.gracehopper.org/participate/registration/

For travel, you can also use the University's Travel Agent to arrange your airfare. Please do so as soon as possible in order to receive the best fares. To do this, you can call Navigant at 800-728-4918, pick your flight dates and times, and ask that the DRAFT ITINERARY be e-mailed to Cindy: cindyp@cs.berkeley.edu. Once she receives the travel draft, she will approve the payment for the airfare, and the ticket will be issued within 24 hours. You will receive an electronic ticket via e-mail. It's best if you let Cindy know when you've set up airfare so that she can be on the lookout for the draft.

IF the Dept. PAYs FOR THE TICKET AND YOU DO NOT USE IT, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAYING THE DEPT.

IF YOU RECEIVE A HOPPER SCHOLARSHIP, LET ME KNOW WHAT IT COVERS AND WE WILL PAY THE REST.ALL HOTEL BILLS WILL BE REIMBURSED ON THE BASIS OF DOUBLE OCCUPANCY, BECAUSE WE CANNOT PAY IN ADVANCE.

If you are not in Berkeley, please register yourself by August 9 and we will reimburse you. You can still use the airfare service remotely. However you need to notify me of your wish to attend, since it is first come first serve.
