  TITLE: "Student Programmer" Assistant II position (4921)
  EMPLOYER:  EECS
  SUPERVISOR: Manager of Instructional Systems Group
  HOURS: 49%  (up to 18 hrs/week)
  SALARY: starting at $14.00/hr
  
  DESCRIPTION:  Provide technical support for computers in EECS instructional
  labs and for software used by EECS instructors and classes.

  Responsibilities include:  support of instructional computing labs and
  computers.  Includes lifting computers and moving computer lab furniture.  
  Includes systems administration, software installation and development on 
  MacOSX, Linux, Solaris and Windows.  May include software development.
  
  Patrol the instructional labs, repair printer and workstations if possible.  
  Report problems to the larger sys admin group.  Do weekend lab checks (2-3
  hours on Saturday or Sunday).  Provide user consulting by email and in 
  person to students and instructors.  Help to install computers in labs.

  Reports to Manager of Instructional Group.  Office is in Soda Hall.

  QUALIFICATIONS:  

  UCB EE major, CS major or equivalent; excellent written and verbal 
  communications skills; experience on UNIX, Windows and MacOSX systems 
  adminstration, experience programming in a variety of computer languages 
  and environments.  B+ or better in CS61A or equivalent.
