• Check out the grading system for this course, it's an incentive to do well in your final (which may compensate low scores in the midterms!).


• Here are some questions that were given it the Final of Fall 1998 (in JPG format): Question 1 (Solution); Question 6, part 1, part 2, (solution to part 1, solution to part 2).
• Two REVIEW SESSIONS will be given by the TAs: one on Wednesday night and one on Thursday night before the final (we decided on these days after “counting votes” in class during the last lecture). Both sessions will take place in 22 WARREN HALL (northwestern corner of campus, see map) between 7pm and 9pm.
• TAs will give regular Office Hours this week. Stephanie's are modified as follows: Wednesday 12pm-1:30pm.
• UNCOLLECTED HOMEWORK will be made available (within the next few days) in a mailbox in the room behind the glass-covered bulletin board where homework solutions are usually displayed.
• FINAL EXAM will be on FRIDAY, Dec. 15th, 12:30-3:30 (Exam Group 8) in 155 Dwinelle Hall. Same format as two previous midterms (Scantron-based). You are allowd to bring one (Letter size) sheet of formulas (one side only; write your own, do not photocopy it from someone else). Please bring a No. 2 Pencil (maybe more than one) and a CALCULATOR. We'll provide scantron forms and exam booklets - no scratch paper is needed.  Bring a WATCH as well, we won't be telling you the exact time every moment.Please come at least 15-20 minutes before the exam starts: we are going to assign places in 155 Dwinelle in a random manner, and this will require a little time.

• New notes on BINARY NUMBERS have been posted on the Notes Page.

• The Grade Curve for Midterm 2 is now available (the grade curve for Midterm 1 has been moved to the Notes Page, along with other old stuff).
• A note on Midterm 2: the correct answer to Problem 14 (Logic Gate) is 0001, i.e. C for exam version 1, C for exam version 2, and B for exam version 3. Unfortunately, the computer that read the scantron forms considered C to be the correct answer for all of the three exam versions. Therefore, IF YOU HAD EXAM VERSION 3 and you wrote B for question 14 you get an extra 6 points; on the other hand, if you had exam version 3 and you wrote C then you should subtract 6 points to your score. We will fix this error automatically on the class spreadsheet.
• New notes have been added to the Notes Page, including a full descripion of the Flashing Light circuit and the solution to the problem on Homework Assignment 8.
• A Tentative Schedule for the rest of term is now available (it also describes what you should know for the 2nd Midterm).
• Note about duty cycle: the formula I wrote in lecture on Oct. 4 was inverted. It should have read:

 

 
 






Duty cycle = Average power for interval/Peak power

The peak power in the example was V2/R; and the average power from the start of one pulse to the start of the next was just one-quarter of that amount, resulting in a 25% duty cycle.

• HOMEWORK SOLUTIONS are posted in the glass-covered Bulletin Board outside 277 Cory (Southeast corner of Cory Hall). Solutions to the Exercises that appear during chapters in the textbook will be posted in the same Bulletin Board.


• REMINDER: late homework will be given NO CREDIT.
• Homework assignments will be made at lecture on each Wednesday. Put your discussion section number on your homework, with your name, and turn it in at START OF LECTURE on the following Wednesday. Homeworks will be returned in Discussion Sections.
