    EE100 Lab Policies and Grading

The basic purpose of this laboratory is to teach you how to use electronic test equipment, to familiarize you with the characteristics of basic circuit elements (resistors, capacitors, diodes and transistors) and to give you experience in designing, building, and debugging circuits.
    • There will be 11 labs, consisting of nine structured experiments and a two-week project.
    Rules for Labs:
    • Do not switch out of lab sections after week 2
    • Need to work in groups of two, not one or three. Find a fixed partner in week 2 and stay with him/her.
    • You need to come to the lab session with Prelabs already done -- Late prelabs will not be accepted.
    • No homework questions in lab
    • No labsor discussions first week of class and during midterm weeks (week 6 and 12 -- see course schedule).
    • Students only enrolled in EE42(not EE43) do not take lab.
    • Lab is included in EE40 and 100.
    • Labs must be turned in before the start of lab the following week.

The breakdown for each lab grading is as follows:

    • Prelab (20%)
      • Prelabs not turned in within the first 15 minutes of lab will be marked off 20%.
      • Prelabs not turned in before the lab period ends will receive no credit.
    • Lab Report (80%)
MOST IMPORTANT-again, we must stress that you are expected to have read AND UNDERSTOOD the lab guide, prelab, and lab report BEFORE the lab session starts. You may need to study the lab materials a couple days before your lab session, so you can come to TA office hours if you need any help to finish the prelab.

    Lab room rules:
    - No drinking/eating inside the lab
    - Only TA's can go into the supply closet
    - No students can be in the lab with out a GSI or staff member on duty
