Rods and Cones
Rods:
- much greater sensitivity to light than cones
- more sensitive to temporal changes in luminance levels
-> more likely to “see” flickering
Cones:
- differentially sensitive to wavelength of light
- greater resolving power than rods
-> provide greater discrimination of details
