WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I was born near LA but grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia. I've been to the States a couple times but a summer program at Carnegie Mellon sealed my desire to study here. I moved here 3 years ago as a freshman and just graduated last semester majoring in EECS. I'm staying for another year in the 5th Year MS program focusing on Integrated Circuits. HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? I started with (gasp!) MATLAB, then learned Java from a high school CS club. I didn't really start programming a lot until I went to Cal, however, where I learned Python and C. I've also done some web stuff in the side with Javascript and some Perl scripting, but I mostly work with MATLAB and Verilog (a hardware definition language) nowadays. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? Unlike most other EECS students, I'm not really into hacking. I play the violin for fun in the university Chamber Orchestra and usually spend my nights watching on my laptop :) WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? Urmmhh... I can grasp concepts pretty quickly (but lose them soon too) HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? I've been on a hot-air balloon in new year's day in Turkey. Hah. Top that. (I usually play safe so sorry, no life-threatening horror stories for you) WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? I have 2 other threads working this semester. One of them is working on research in the Berkeley Wireless Research Center - we are building a neuromodulation system as a Brain-Machine Interface. The other is working on developing labs for EE16B, a pilot class for the second intro course to EE.
