WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I was born in Seattle, WA, but later I moved to Taiwan and grew up over there. I moved to LA after my 6th grade (in Taiwan, you spend 6 years in elementary school instead of 5), and stayed in LA until I graduate high school. Now I'm currently a 3rd year undergrad in EECS at Cal. Now I'm not sure whether I like EE or CS more, but up to now I've been taking more EE classes (if you have questions about any EE classes feel free to ask me!). Hopefully I can make up my mind sometime before i go to grad school though :P. HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? I started in high school with Java in the AP Computer Science class (so sad they cancelled it...), then I self-studied C but it was really when I took CS 61C that I really get what's going on with it. Other than that I know scheme (thuh), Python, and a little bit of C# and C++. I would have to say Python is my favorite programming language because it's so nice and simple. But sadly I'm still most familiar with Java, so most of the time I still code in Java. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? Reading (mostly novels), math, programming random stuffs, chess, learning new things!!! I guess eating and sleeping are other two major habbits, if you count them :P. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? I'm good at concentrating (to the point that I absolutely can't hear anything when I'm doing something) and telling weird and nerdy jokes (that's how I make myself remember stuffs I learn in class). Oh yeah, and I'm good at sleeping!!! Even now in college I can still sleep 8-10 hours a day!!! Isn't that some SKILLS :P. HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? In high school I got voted for the most unique person on yearbook my senior year (mostly due to weird behaviors and jokes I pull off), and I did well on the Putnam Math competition the past three years (although last year's result isn't out yet). I also have the chance to intern at Google the last summer, and IT IS GREAT (you get to fool around, do a lot of cool stuffs, get free food, and meanwhile they pay you a bunch). If you get an offer from Google definitely consider it. WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? I will be preparing to teach this class (yea for 61c!!!), and besides that I'm currently taking EE 230 (a solid state physics class), EE 240 (analog circuits), CS 172 (computational complexity), and Stat 134 (just a stats class). However, depending on my work load I may drop one of these.
