WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I grew up in the suburbs of Bankstown, which is a city close to Sydney, NSW, Australia. I moved to San Mateo, California at around freshman year of High School so (un)fortunately, most of my accent has faded. I think I lived a relatively quiet and normal high school life coming into Berkeley. Had a few hiccups freshman and sophomore year at Berkeley, but I've made it hear to my junior year as a declared L&S CS Major. HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? Way back when, I used to copy bits of random QBASIC code I found online into my dad's laptop, and I guess that was my first experience ever programming. I fiddled around with C++/Java here and there, but never really understood what was going on. I started to take programming semi-seriously around the start of high school, where I taught myself Ruby to make scripts for a certain game engine. After that, I relearnt C++/Java. Python came naturally, though my favourite language is still Ruby, and I use it for almost everything nowadays. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? Besides coding on the side, my biggest hobby is probably video games. Playing them, discussing them, and making them / helping others make theirs takes up a good portion of my time. For more "real life" hobbies, I like to take random, uninspired walks. I also enjoy camping with friends; especially stargazing in the middle of nowhere. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? I'm not sure, but I was apparently talented enough to get into Berkeley. HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? Remarkable (?): Skipping a grade (or two). This also made trying to enroll in high school very memorable. Oh, I've gotten Top 10 on several Pokemon OverUsed ladders, the most memorable times being with my SunStall Shedinja team (back in the B/W meta), and with my Snover/Cleffa/Solosis Trick Room Hail Stall team (probably B/W-2). Not sure if that's considered remarkable, and if you don't know what any of this means, don't worry about it. WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? Besides this course, not too much. I'm helping an artist develop an indie PC Game that's scheduled for a Winter release. That, some of my own side projects, and sleep.
