Text and Materials

Contemporary Logic Design, by R. Katz is the required text. Digital Design Principles and Practices, by J. F. Wakerly is also recommended, but not required. Also recommended is a 1/2 or 3/8 size logic template for homework and exams. (Also see http://http.cs.berkeley.edu/~randy/CLD/CLD.html; note that the online version is missing figure numbers and numbers the exercises differently than the hardback, which is the standard used in the class)

Labs pdf postscript

Labs are held in 204B Cory Hall. The first lab lecture is on January 22. Labs start January 25.

There is a 10% bonus for turning in your lab before the end of that session.  Otherwise, you will receive full credit if you turn it in by the beginning of the following week's section, and half credit for the week after that.

Homework

Problem sets will be due at 5 p.m. Friday in the box outside 218 Cory Hall. Homework handed in after Friday at 5 p.m. but before 5 p.m. on Monday will receive half credit.

Homeworks are stored as postscript files. These can be saved to disk and printed or viewed with a utility such as ghostview. (To use ghostview type "ghostview FILENAME" from the UNIX prompt. For PCs, download a utility like gsview.)
