Connecting |
Method 1: Simply connect to
this server. When your browser prompts you, you will need to install
the Remote Desktop ActiveX control. Once the page loads, type
"kramnik.eecs.berkeley.edu" in the server box, select a screen resolution and
hit "Connect."
Method 3 : All of the machines in 125 Cory have the RDC client installed and there is a desktop shortcut. It is relatively easy, but slightly pointless, to access Kramnik from the lab. From these machines you can refer to it as simply "kramnik" rather than "kramnik.eecs.berkeley.edu" |
Logging In |
Your login for kramnik is the same as your login for the lab machines. As with the lab machines, you need to log into the EECS domain. If your login has been locked out, wait 15min and try again, someone (perhaps you) simply tried to enter too many invalid passwords for your account. |
Restrictions |
|
Storage |
While logged into kramnik you can use the "Z:\" drive for local storage. You will also have access to your normal "U:\" drive, which you should use for permanent storage. Currently the contents of the "Z:\" drives are not deleted when you log off. This may change if people abuse the storage space. We may RANDOMLY purge the Z:\ drives of users not currently logged into Kramnik! |
Printing |
When you are logged into kramnik you should be able to print from kramnik to
any local printer. IE: your home printer if you're at home or print125-a,
print125-b and print125-c if you're in the lab. If you are security minded, or
if this is not enabled you can change your settings (if you're using login
method 2 or 3). Before you log in to kramik simply click Options >>
in the RDC client, navigate to the

Transfering Files |
In order to transfer files from home to your "U:\" you must enable an option
and then log into kramnik. Before you log in to kramik simply click Options
>> in the RDC client, navigate to the

Problems |
You cannot currently create Xilinx Project Navigator Projects on Kramnik. You must create such a project (even an empty one) on a lab machine in order to use it from Kramnik. Once you have an empty project you can modify its settings, add or remove files and such while logged into Kramnik. This is a known issue with Xilinx 6.2i and Windows 2003 Server, there is currently no fix availible. |
