WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH? I grew up in the small town of Pacific Grove, CA., which is a couple hours south of Berkeley. HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE? WHAT LANGUAGES? I have been programming for a couple years now. I've primarily used python, Scratch/BYOB and the statistical language R. I've also played around with scheme, BASIC, and Unix. I actually got my start programming in TI-BASIC on my TI-84 calculator. My first program estimated integrals using the trapezoid rule. I don't know if you could call it programming exactly, but I've also used HTML and LaTeX quite a bit. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? My main hobby is playing trombone. I also enjoy video games and playing tennis. Occasionally, I run when I'm not too lazy. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS AND SKILLS? I like to think I'm an alright trombone player. Also, I've done some tutoring, so I have pretty good teaching skills. HAVE YOU EVER DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? I toured Japan three times with an honor jazz band. WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS TERM? Along with 5 classes, I'll be in both the University Wind Ensemble and the UCJazz big band this semester. In addition to being a reader for CS10, I'm helping out as a lab assistant for the web-based version of the course, CSw10.
